Product Overview
Expancell is a closed cell polyethylene foam supplied in circular cord lengths for use as a back up material for joint sealing applications. Expancell is available in a variety of sizes ranging from 6mm to 50mm in diameter suitable for the most commonly encountered joint dimensions.
Expancell polyethylene foam back-up cords have the ability to perform several functions. They enable the correct width to depth ratio of the sealing slot to be maintained and provide a firm backing for the sealant to be tooled. This will precipitate wetting of the sides of the joint during the sealant application thus facilitating good adhesion. The use of Expancell will also act as a bond breaker at the base of the joint thus preventing three sided adhesion and the accompanying additional stress during joint movement. Non-absorbent and rot proof, the functional performance of Expancell is not impaired by climatic extremes.
