Nitomortar FC
Product Overview
Nitomortar FC is designed for application to minor imperfec- tions in concrete surfaces. It is suitable for application from a feather-edge to 3 mm, and can be used in the following situations : Filling pinholes prior to overcoating with Nitocote* † or Nitoflor* † products. General reprofiling over large areas, up to 3 mm depth. Sealing of surface cracks in preparation for crack injection. General purpose bedding mortar and adhesive
Nitomortar FC is a two component thixotropic, solvent free, compound based on epoxy resins, graded fillers and perfor- mance additives. It is applied directly to concrete substrates, without primer, and cures to a uniform smooth surface ready for over coating.
Nitomortar FC is designed for filling pinholes and surface irregularities in concrete prior to the application of subse- quent coatings. It can be applied from a feather-edge up to 3 mm thickness. For reprofiling, or hole filling, with thicknesses in excess of 3 mm, it is recommended to use Nitomortar FC(B)*.

Applications
Concrete surfaces should be clean, dry and free from laitance. Sandblasting or mechanical wire brushing may be necessary.
Care should be taken to ensure that Nitomortar FC is thoroughly mixed to produce a fully homogeneous paste. The hardener’ and ‘base’ components should be stirred thoroughly in order to disperse any settlement before mixing them together. The entire contents of the ‘hardener’ should be emptied into the ‘base’ container and the components mixed together using a Fosroc mixing paddle attached to a slow-speed (400/500rpm) heavy duty drill, until a uniform grey colour and consistency is obtained. Mixing of 1kg packs can be done by hand but care must be taken to ensure homogenus mixing. Under no circumstances should part packs be used, or part mixing be attempted.
Due to the easy workability of the product, a variety of instruments such as trowel, scraper, filling knife and squee- gee can be used. After mixing, material can be taken directly from the can, or subdivided onto spot boards for individual applicators. Nitomortar FC can be overcoated with all epoxy coatings after a minimum curing period of 24 hours. Prior to overcoat- ing, the surface of the fully cured Nitomortar FC should first be abraded to assist adhesion, and then cleaned to a dust-free finish. It is suggested that the following list of equipment is adopted as a minimum requirement Protective clothing : Protective overalls : Good quality gloves, goggles and face mask Preparation equipment : Wire brush : Proprietary blasting equipment : Proprietary Degreaser Mixing equipment : Measuring jug : 1 KW slow speed drill, 400 or 500 rpm + Fosroc MR4 mixing paddle + suitably sized mixing vessel, for single bag mixing Application equipment : Hand application trowel 0r Scraper 0r Filling knife : Finishing sponge Application - points of note Fosroc operates a policy to encourage the use, where possible, of registered applicators, since the long term performance of the materials is dependent upon proper application. For contractors who wish to apply the materials themselves Fosroc is also able to offer technical assistance and training, either on-site or at its Training Centre in Dubai Page 2 of 3 constructive solutions 1.0 Surface preparation Attention to full and proper preparation of the substrate is essential for complete repair adhesion. 1.1 The surface of the substrate should be thoroughly cleaned to remove all traces of dust, oil, paint, curing compounds, grease, corrosion deposits, algae or any unsound material which might affect subsequent bond between Nitomortar FC and the substrate. 1.2 Oil and grease deposits are best removed by steam cleaning, detergent scrubbing or the use of a proprietary degreaser. 2.0 Mixing 2.1 Care should be taken to ensure that Nitomortar FC is thoroughly mixed to produce a fully homogeneous, trowellable mortar. 2.2 The hardener and base components should be stirred thoroughly in order to disperse any settlement before mixing them together. 2.3 The entire contents of the hardener and base can should be emptied into the mixing vessel and thoroughly mixed for 3 minutes. 2.4 Under no circumstances should part bags be used. 3.0 Application 3.1 Due to the easy workability of the product, the mixed material can be taken directly from the mixing vessel or subdivided onto spot boards for individual applicators. 3.2 Apply the mixed Nitomortar FC to the substrate using any of the application instruments; such as trowel, scraper, filling knife and squeegee. 3.3 Nitomortar FC can be overcoated with epoxy coatings after a minimum curing period of 24 hours. 4.0 Cleaning 4.1 Nitomortar FC should be removed from tools with Fosroc Solvent 102, immediately after use.
